Our Mission
Creating a stronger community.
The Lander Community Foundation is a local philanthropic foundation whose mission is to create a stronger community by promoting philanthropy, encouraging effective giving, and facilitating volunteerism while providing leadership on nonprofit issues that are important to our community.
We are committed to strengthening nonprofit groups by helping them to build capacity. Everyone benefits when people do their best work. We also provide technical assistance and help build partnerships between nonprofits, businesses, the state, and individuals throughout Lander.
Since 2011, we have raised nearly $7 million dollars, together, to help our Lander community.
Philanthropy
Philanthropy listens, solves, and builds.
Philanthropy works to solve today’s problems while also looking towards the future. Philanthropy does more than provide immediate relief. It listens, solves, and builds. It considers long-term problems and works to create strategic, long-term solutions.
Call it a spirit, call it a culture—philanthropy is simply an ongoing commitment to solving real problems with real solutions.
We work to make sure that every hour you volunteer and every dollar you donate is maximized to the best of our abilities. We know that passion is strengthened by strategy and that making a difference is something we can measure.
Effective giving solves problems and reduces long-term dependency by creating systems that work. It isn’t charity—it’s stepping up with the resources that we do have to do something that matters. Because we all have the capacity to make a measurable difference.
Effective Giving
Effective giving helps to create long-term self-sufficiency.
Lander is largely run by volunteers. Behind every concert in the park, race, and nonprofit organization, you are met with the power of volunteers. Neighbors, friends, folks we recognize from town. Us.
Facilitating volunteerism is a pillar of our work for two reasons. Firstly, our community depends, in a very real way, on volunteers. Secondly, volunteering changes us. It creates purpose and connection. And life is enriched in every way possible when we have purpose—and community to share it with.
Volunteerism
Volunteering changes our community. And, it changes us.
Since 2020, volunteers have donated 12,000+ hours of their time to help strengthen our community.
Our Values
-
Hard Work
Anything worth building takes hard work. We aren’t afraid to roll-up our sleeves to get what needs to be done done. Ours is a hands-on, collaborative approach to creating a stronger community.
-
Engaging in Community Conversation
We are creating this community, together. We want to hear what you have to say. To bridge towards a better future, we must whole-heartedly understand your opinions, concerns, and dreams.
-
Building Genuine Connections
Everything happens through relationship. In a place where we truly rely on each other, nothing could be more important than building genuine connections. We want to know you—and, we want you to know us.
Our Anti-Discrimination Policy
