Mission & Vision

Our Mission

Creating a stronger community.

The mission of the Lander Community Foundation is to create a stronger community by: (1) promoting philanthropy, (2) encouraging effective giving, and (3) facilitating volunteerism. We also provide leadership on issues that are important to our community.

We are committed to strengthening non-profit groups by helping them to build capacity. Everyone benefits when people do their best work. We also provide technical assistance and help build partnerships between non-profits, businesses, the state, and individuals throughout Lander.

Over the past 10 years, we have raised $4.8 million dollars, together, to help our Lander community.

  1. Philanthropy.

    Philanthropy listens, solves, and builds.

Philanthropy works to solve today’s problems while also looking towards the future.  Philanthropy does more than provide immediate relief. It listens, solves, and builds. It considers long-term problems and works to create strategic, long-term solutions.

Call it a spirit, call it a culture—philanthropy is simply an ongoing commitment to solving real problems with real solutions.

At LCF, we work to make sure that every hour you volunteer and every dollar you donate is maximized to the best of our abilities. We know that passion is strengthened by strategy and that making a difference is something we can measure.

Effective giving solves problems and reduces long-term dependency by creating systems that work. It isn’t charity—it’s stepping up with the resources that we do have to do something that matters. Because we all have the capacity to make a measurable difference.

2. Effective giving

Effective giving helps to create long-term self-sufficiency.

In 2022, volunteers donated over xx hours to help strengthen our community.

3. Promoting Volunteerism

Volunteering changes our community. And, it changes us.

Lander is largely run by volunteers. Behind every concert in the park, race, and non-profit organization, you are met with the power of volunteers. Neighbors, friends, folks we recognize from town. Us.

At LCF, facilitating volunteerism is a pillar of our work for two reasons. Firstly, our community depends, in a very real way, on volunteers. Secondly, volunteering changes us. It creates purpose and connection. And life is enriched in every way possible when we have purpose—and community to share it with.

Our Vision

A strong community plans for its future.

The pillars that LCF stands on—promoting philanthropy, encouraging effective giving, and facilitating volunteerism—are designed to guide us now and in the future. We know that our work can only be sustained if we show how and why giving matters. It’s also on us to make sure our kids know how to match passion with purpose, to know the value of coming together—in-person—to listen, solve, and build things as a community.

We are building a community foundation to serve us today—and to serve our kids in the future. This is our hope, our vision.

Almost $3 million has been raised for the Lander community over the past 10 years.
